French Women’s World Cup Trio Posed Naked…

to draw attention to their sport. Gaetane Thiney, Elodie Thomis and Corine Franco posed for the pictures under the motto:

“Is this how we should show up before you come to our games?”

They claim they made the decision – following some German players’ appearances in Playboy last month – to raise awareness about the women’s game.

Is this the right way to bring attention to women’s soccer?  So far I’ve seen marked improvement in women’s soccer while watching the FIFA 2011 World Cup in Germany.  Maybe the timing was not right by doing this during the World Cup.

I agree with Thiney when it comes to appreciating their pictures. ”The pictures have come out really nice and I really like them.”

Today the U.S. Women’s Squad defeated the French 3-1 without having to take anything off.

Yes it’s publicity. I not sure about morality though. Being naked is not amoral. Being photographed is not amoral. But being photographed naked for publicity purposes or any other reason might be amoral.

It’s publicity at all costs, but have they lost all sense of morality?
